Energy Data Innovation Hub

Decarbonisation, Digitalisation and Decentralisation. Fundamental changes are imminent in the energy sector. The end of nuclear power plant operation calls for an expansion of diverse, renewable and decentralized energy technologies such as geothermal, wind and solar technology. Data and digital tools are increasingly needed to optimize and stabilize the interplay between energy supply, use and storage.

Our association, the Energy Data Innovation Hub (EDIH), is dedicated to promoting open and sustainable innovation in the energy sector through the opportunities provided by digital transformation and data usage. We actively support and promote innovative ideas and concepts. We assist our members and partners in implementing forward-looking and sustainable projects and solutions. A key part of our work is the exchange and transfer of knowledge among members and other partners. We strive to build a shared ecosystem that facilitates the active exchange and use of (open) energy data.

Additionally, we operate at the interface between research and industry, aiming to create added value for the various players in the energy sector through our community and commitment. Our goal is to strengthen and promote the innovative capacity of the Swiss energy sector.

The association was founded in 2023 by the organizers of the Energy Data Hackdays, combining and expanding the previous activities of the hackathon and the Energy Data Working Group. In addition, we organize 3-4 smaller events and meetings each year. These events are focused on information, exchange, networking, and the development of joint projects.

By collaborating with different players and partners, we aim to utilize synergies through new and existing formats and further strengthen our ecosystem. Reach out if you want to collaborate!
