The second edition of the GovTech Hackathon took place on March 14 and 15, 2024 in Bern. The theme was “Networked Switzerland”. Under this title, around 130 participants sought solutions for digital networking – both within the public administration and with third parties.

Over the course of two days, participants at the 2024 GovTech Hackathon worked intensively on solutions for a networked Switzerland. Before the participants could get hacking, they had to choose which of the 17 challenges they wanted to work on. They then set about tackling their chosen challenge intensively in teams for the next two days. At the end, the solutions were presented to a jury consisting of representatives from the fields of politics, administration, business and research.

We would like to thank all those who took part for their commitment to a networked Switzerland. The jury commended three projects in particular:

• Most beneficial solution: «Schneereserven der Schweizer Stauanlagen»
• Most advanced solution: «Digital Health mit der neuen E-ID Trust-Infrastruktur»
• Most creative solution: «OptiFoodGame»

The hackathon was run by the Federal Chancellery’s DTI Sector and we had the pleasure of supporting them.
