For the first Bern Open Data Hackday on Friday, 27 April 2012 at the University of Bern, we invite idea and data providers, designers, programmers and everyone else interested to spend half a day developing new open government data apps with data from Bern, free of charge.
There is no fixed theme. So that the day itself can be spent working on project ideas as efficiently as possible, everyone must register via the web form by 15 April 2012. Participants are also invited to share their skills and interests in the Opendata.ch wiki and forum, form groups accordingly and join their own or others' project ideas. Companies and institutions may also form a hackday group. Topics might include visualising the City of Bern's finances, the transport network or energy consumption.
Catering is sponsored by the Bern ICT companies Puzzle, Netcetera and basis06. Members of the media are also welcome to take part in the first Bern hackday, as contributors or as reporters.
How it works
- Register for the Bern hackday at make.opendata.ch/Bern
- Create a user profile in the wiki
- Describe and discuss app ideas in the forum
- Meet and take part at the Bern hackday on 27 April 2012
- Publish your apps and document them in the wiki
At the start of the hackday each idea is presented in 2 minutes. Participants form teams around the ideas and develop the apps together. At the end of the day the results are presented and, if there is interest, developed further after the hackday with the support of the Opendata.ch association.
