Federal Council adopts open government data strategy 2019–2023

At its meeting of 30.11.2018, the Federal Council adopted the Open Government Data (OGD) Strategy Switzerland 2019–2023. Under the clearly established leadership of the Federal Department of Home Affairs FDHA, the Federal Statistical Office FSO is entrusted with implementing the strategy.

Thanks to the OGD pioneers

The Opendata.ch association thanks the Swiss Federal Archives and all committed players at every political level, as well as organisations with a public mandate, for the pioneering work they have done.

Together, over the past years, they have developed the foundation on which the federal administration and the organisations accountable to it will, in the coming strategy phase, make data openly and freely available with greater commitment and a stronger focus on user needs.

Dialogue with the Swiss OGD community

The current OGD Strategy Switzerland 2014–2018 was audited by the Swiss Federal Audit Office SFAO in the first quarter of 2018. The Opendata.ch association considers the concerns it regularly raised during the OGD Strategy 2014–2018 to be confirmed by the SFAO report.

The further implementation of open government data at federal level requires a stronger dialogue between the federal administration and the Swiss OGD community. More: Statement on the SFAO report
