28–29 September 2012, 09:00 @ Unternehmen Mitte, Gerbergasse 30, 4001 Basel

On 28 and 29 September 2012 developers, designers, experts and lay people worked on apps and visualisations of open health data at Unternehmen Mitte in Basel and in Geneva at the same time – the third nation-wide make.opendata.ch hackdays. On the eve, a panel with TagesWoche discussed what open health data mean for Basel as a «life science hub». Twelve projects emerged in two days, from a map of health insurance premiums and the generics finder myGenerics to Open Med Sensor's opened-up blood pressure monitor.

Halle, Unternehmen MittePanel: Open health data, a recipe for healthy innovation?

Healthcare is in the middle of a data revolution. It makes everything more complex, but also much more understandable – if the data can be accessed. What such «open health data» mean for transparency and innovation, especially in the «life science hub» of Basel, is the subject of a discussion with participants from business, science and society. Together with TagesWoche, free admission.

Open Health Data means making healthcare data freely available and usable, for more transparency, innovation and efficiency. Over two days, designers, programmers, journalists, experts and laypeople work in open workshops on practical apps and exciting visualisations on the topic of health.

On 28 and 29 September 2012, developers, designers, experts and citizens of all kinds will meet simultaneously at the Unternehmen Mitte in Basel and in Geneva to work with open data on the topic of health. On Thursday, 27 September, the evening before the Hackdays, the Tageswoche together with the Opendata.ch association is organising a panel discussion, also in the hall of the Unternehmen Mitte, which will introduce the topic of “open government data” to a wider audience. The event is free of charge.

The Hackdays themselves start on Friday, 28 September, at 9:00, and end with the final presentation on Saturday, 29 September, at 16:00. Anyone interested can now register for the Hackdays at: https://opendata.ch/wiki/
