Digital democracy with Digital Minister Audrey Tang
Panel discussion: what Switzerland can learn from the Taiwanese model
Digital Minister and former hacker Audrey Tang shows us by video how Taiwan involved its population in fighting the coronavirus crisis. We then discuss with Swiss experts how algorithms and social media influence politics, the state and society today, and how Swiss democracy can now make the leap into the digital age. Do the state and the administration bring the renewal that is needed? And can the culture of debate withstand fake news and populism?
Video excerpts of Audrey Tang (Digital Minister of Taiwan) are shown. Discussing them are Anna Schindler (Director of Urban Development, City of Zurich), Prof. Marcel Salathé (founder of CH++), Nikki Böhler (Managing Director, Opendata.ch) and Prof. Dr. Alessia Neuroni (Head of Digital Administration and E-Government, Canton of Zurich). The event is moderated by Nicola Forster (President of the Swiss Society for the Common Good).
The event takes place on site in the hall and as a livestream.
In cooperation with the Swiss Society for the Common Good (SGG), Urban Development Zurich and Asia Society Switzerland. Number of seats: 100.
The following evening, the workshop «Testing Civic Tech» by Smart City Zürich and the Prototype Fund took place at the Smart City Lab.
