The first Swiss conference on freely accessible government data was fully booked with more than 150 participants. Nigel Shadbolt opened with «The Power of Open Government Data», followed by contributions from the Federal Archives, swisstopo, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, MeteoSwiss, the Federal Statistical Office and the Federal IT Strategy Unit, and Martin Stoll's report on the Freedom of Information Act. In the afternoon six workshops went deeper into politics, technology, law, journalism, business and science. Rufus Pollock presented the international open data movement, and National Councillor Christian Wasserfallen closed by calling on everyone to put the Swiss Open Government Data Manifesto, launched at the conference, into practice. Organised by the Parliamentary Group for Digital Sustainability and the Swiss Federal Archives, coordinated by /ch/open.

With more than 150 participants, the opendata.ch 2011 conference at the Swiss Federal Archives in Bern was fully booked. The recordings and presentations are listed in the programme. Members of parliament, senior administrative staff and representatives of business, research and the media took part in the first Swiss conference on freely accessible government data. Together they discussed the benefits and challenges of open government data in Switzerland and defined important next steps.
