We recommend the members of the Parliamentary Group for Digital Sustainability Parldigi for re-election

During the 2011 to 2015 legislative period now coming to an end, the Parliamentary Group for Digital Sustainability Parldigi submitted various parliamentary motions on open government data (OGD) and was successful in practically all cases.
These successful parliamentary motions have led to the Swiss open government data pilot portal (www.opendata.admin.ch) being in operation since September 2013, and to the Federal Council adopting the Swiss Open Government Data Strategy for the years 2014 to 2018 in April 2014 and commissioning the Federal Department of Home Affairs FDHA to implement it. The partial revision of the Meteorology Act, to make weather data available free of charge in line with the principle of open government data, has been drafted and was unanimously welcomed from all sides in the consultation. The publication of all federal procurements with a contract volume of CHF 50‘000 or more should shortly be introduced across the board by ordinance.

The Opendata.ch association thanks the Parliamentary Group for Digital Sustainability Parldigi for these successful motions in the interest of open data in Switzerland. Special thanks go to the co-presidents of ParlDigi, Edith Graf-Litscher (SP, Thurgau) and Christian Wasserfallen (FDP, Bern), and to the members of the core team, Balthasar Glättli (GP, Zurich), Kathy Riklin (CVP, Zurich), Rosmarie Quadranti (BDP, Zurich) and Thomas Weibel (GLP, Zurich), all of whom have supported us with great commitment. We recommend these politicians for re-election to the National Council. In addition, we are pleased that our Opendata.ch board colleague Matthias Stürmer, managing director of Parldigi, is standing for the National Council in the canton of Bern (EVP). We recommend him for election too.
