#FlashHacks: #MaptheBanks in Zurich

Event notice: OpenCorporates, Open Data Zürich and Opendata.ch are delighted to invite you on 3 February 2015 to the first #FlashHacks event in Zurich, at Liip.

And now some information for those of you who can’t quite picture what a #FlasHacks is: it’s really nothing other than a flash mob for coders. Held as a mini-hack, #FlashHacks is all about company datasets. Each #FlashHacks therefore has a different theme: on 03.02.2015 we will dive together into the world of global finance and devote ourselves to the #MaptheBanks project. #MaptheBanks aims to collect, make accessible and catalogue data on the financial sector. We are motivated by the following fact: “The financial crisis cost the world more than 10 trillion dollars. Before we can disrupt the industry, we need to map it. The financial crisis revealed the damage done by our lack of understanding of the influence and size of banks and financial companies.”

Now we want to get to work together to collect data on every bank in the world and to work together towards a better banking system that serves society.

Come along on 3 February 2015 to Liip in Zurich, from 16:00.
Bring your laptop, your charger and plenty of enthusiasm and good humour. And this event is not just for coders: everyone else who can help tell stories about the data or visualise it is just as welcome. And even if you only want to drop by briefly: it’s worth it – seize this unique opportunity.
