Challenges

  • Location Tips from the Reception Desk

→ Ergebnis: Reception Desk as Tourist Office

    Challenge-Beschrieb

  • The "no tourist" office

The tourist office for people who wouldn't consider themselves as "tourist"

    Challenge-Beschrieb

Today, millennials and generation Y people want to experience unique adventures, discover hidden gems and get exclusive access to local hotspots.
And the tourist office - per definition - isn't perceived as a place where you get that advice: It's perceived as a place where only tourists go and where you get tourist information about tourist attractions.

How can we close that gap and create the tourist office for "no tourists"?

  • OSMyBiz Notes – IFS Institut für Software (HSR)

OpenStreetMap My Business Notes Management Tool

    Max LüthiDiego KaiserLucas von Niederhäusern

    → Ergebnis: OSMyBiz Notes

    Challenge-Beschrieb

  • SBB Data Challenges – Schweizerische Bundesbahnen SBB
    Challenge-Beschrieb

    CHALLENGE 1

UPDATE: The Digital Tourist Office project was developed in response to this challenge.

    ---

The project that started this hackday is called "Tourist Office 3.0". The focus of the hackday is now wider on purpose, yet let's not forget the initial goal.
Some questions I have in my head:

    • what services should a future tourist office offer on site, what in an app, on the web or otherwise?
    • how and in what direction are expectations of tourists likely to change?
    • what data that we have in the hackday contributions can help us to answer the topic?

  • Meetup for Tourism – gutundgut

Online platform where tourists can meet and plan their activities together

    Challenge-Beschrieb

Be it a hike in Arosa, a skiing adventure in Valais or a culinary trip to Ticino - imagine a platform where tourists can meet up, form a group and then commonly plan their Swiss adventure (even co-organise child-care and so on).

  • Adventure finder – Die Ergonomen

Imagine it's a Sunday afternoon, you're on holidays in Switzerland and you don't know what to do!

    Challenge-Beschrieb

The adventure finder could operate in many ways

    • A device with a buzzer: Hit the buzzer and get inspired by the activity/tour/destination it's showing you.
    • Make a selfie and then you can see yourself on the monitor, doing different kind of activities (such as hiking, biking, swimming) and choose which one suits you most :-)
    • Put on virtual reality glasses and explore all possible adventures of your destination

    -------
    Variation of this idea:
    An App called "SURPRISE ME"
    Imagine you could choose

    • a subject (such as design, food, art, fashion, nature)
    • a time-frame (1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, half day, 1 day)
    • season (spring, summer, autumn, winter)
    • current weather (rainy, sunny)

-> Then you'll get 3 suggestions tailored to your preferences and current situation

  • My best moment

    → Ergebnis: Destination Forecast Dashboard

    Challenge-Beschrieb

If I want to go for a swim in Zurich, Google tells me whether I have to expect a crowded or half-empty public swimming pool.

Imagine you could do the same for your Swiss holiday destination and have a forecasting tool which destination has how many people visiting at which time - and whether it's very busy or you can enjoy your favourite spots for yourself. Or whether the ski slope is overcrowded or if there's enough space to waltz down the entire piste.

This tool could not only be interesting for tourists, but also for destinations: How many people can we expect in week X in Arosa, due to holiday season in different Swiss Cantons, the usual catchment area and so on.
