Analyze CORDIS data (EU-funded research projects)

Since 1994 several thousands of research projects have been funded by the EU. Hundreds of different institutions in many countries have collaborated on a very broad range of research topics.

We're working on possible visualisations which should help researchers and the public see connections between the different collaborators and topics. Ultimately also showing trending research topics from FP4 until Horizon2020.

Collaborative Virtual Museum for All Senses (CoViMAS) is an extended virtual museum which engages all senses of visitors. It is a substantial upgrade and expansion of our award-winning Glamhack 2018 project “Walking around the Globe” virtual_3d_exhibition which had the DBIS Group from the University of Basel team up with the ETH Library to introduce a prototype of an exhibition in Virtual Reality.

[Overview of the Project Plan]

Many legal decisions, or case results, on national and international levels are available online - but are not accessible enough. The information is stored in opaque formats, with inadequate metadata and frustrating search tools. The aim of this project was to create a framework for Case Law as a Service (CLaaS), that is, a platform architecture that allows users and diverse applications easy access to case law.

[Simulation of the Ptolemaic system of the universe]

Back to the Greek Universe is a web application that allows users to explore the ancient Greek model of the universe in virtual reality so that they can realize what detailed knowledge the Greeks had of the movement of the celestial bodies observable from the Earth's surface. The model is based on Claudius Ptolemy's work, which is characterized by the fact that it adopts a geo-centric view of the universe with the …

The internet and the world wide web are often referred to as being disruptive. In fact, every new technology has a disruptive potential. 550 years ago the invention of the modern printing technology by Johannes Gutenberg in Germany (and, two decades later, by William Caxton in England) was massively disruptive. Books, carefully bound manuscripts written and copied by scribes during weeks, if not months, could suddenly be mass-produced at an incredible spe…

The goal of this project is to explore interactive visualization of open data in a graphically rich, game-like 3D environment. Open data about Switzerland is portrayed in our first live site.

The Pendler-Check is capable of comparing two routes (e.g. Bern-Zürich and Zürich-St.Gallen) and giving a clear advice which home location is better for commuting to work.
The analysis is done based on real connection information from SBB on a randomly selected workday (from 06:00 to 22:00).
