La technologie peut créer une valeur ajoutée pour nous tous. En l’absence d’un modèle d’entreprise et d’un soutien de l’Etat, le financement pour le développement de projets d’intérêt général en Suisse fait défaut.
Des solutions présumées sont développées en silos (et selon un modèle en cascade), sans intégrer les personnes concernées et avec la peur à l’esprit de ne pas faire d’erreurs. D’autres pensent que la prochaine technologie à la mode ou Elon Musk résoudra tous nos problèmes (souvent sans même avoir bien compris le hype).
Le Prototype Fund intervient ici. Nous créons des espaces d’expérimentation structurés pour des innovations axées sur l’humain, ouvertes et à utilité publique en Suisse. Nous vous aidons à résoudre des problèmes sociétaux avec des projets open source et à renforcer ainsi le bien commun.
En tant que programmeur-se indépendant-e ou en tant qu’équipe, engagé-e, créatif-ve, et techniquement apte, vous recevrez jusqu’à 100 000 CHF pour développer votre idée d’utilité publique, du concept à la première démo.
Avec cet argent, vous pouvez construire un prototype de votre logiciel (ou hardware) open source. En outre, nous vous accompagnerons, vous conseillerons et vous mettrons en réseau avec la communauté technologique et d’autres communautés, individuellement et spécifiquement.

Technologie kann Mehrwert für uns alle schaffen. Mangels Geschäftsmodell und staatlicher Unterstützung fehlt es für die Entwicklung gemeinwohlorientierter Projekte in der Schweiz jedoch an Finanzierung.
Vermeintliche Lösungen werden in Silos (und nach dem Wasserfallmodell) entwickelt, ohne die betroffenen Personen miteinzubeziehen und mit der Angst im Hinterkopf, ja keine Fehler zu machen. Andere wiederum glauben, dass die nächste Hype-Technologie oder Elon Musk all unsere Problem lösen wird (oft ohne den Hype überhaupt richtig verstanden zu haben).
Hier setzt der Prototype Fund an. Wir schaffen strukturierte Experimentierräume für menschenzentrierte, offene und gemeinnützige Innovation in der Schweiz. Wir unterstützen euch dabei, mit Open-Source-Projekten gesellschaftliche Probleme zu lösen und so das Gemeinwohl zu stärken.
Als selbstständige Programmierer:in oder als Team von technisch versierten, engagierten und kreativen Mitstreiter:innen erhältst du von uns bis zu 100’000 CHF, um deine Public Interest Tech-Idee binnen sechs Monaten vom Konzept bis zur ersten Demo weiterzuentwickeln. Mit dem Geld könnt ihr einen Prototyp eurer Open-Source-Software (oder Hardware) bauen. Zusätzlich zur finanziellen Unterstützung coachen, beraten und vernetzen wir euch individuell mit der Tech- und weiteren Communities.

Technology can create added value for all of us. However, in the absence of business models and government support, there is a lack of funding for the development of public interest tech projects in Switzerland.
Alleged solutions are developed in silos (and according to a waterfall model), without involving the affected people and with fear in the back of one’s mind not to make any mistakes. Others believe that the next hype technology or Elon Musk will solve all our problems (often without even really understanding the hype).
This is where the Prototype Fund comes in. We create structured experimental spaces for human-centred, open and non-profit innovation in Switzerland. We support you in solving social challenges with open source projects and thereby strengthen the common good.
As an independent programmer or as a team of technically skilled, committed and creative collaborators, you can receive up to CHF 100,000 from us to develop your public interest tech idea from concept to first demo within six months. You can use the money to build a prototype of your open source software (or hardware). In addition to the financial support, we will coach, mentor and individually network you with the tech and wider communities.
